Emergency Medical Technician Pathway to Paramedic

EMT-B and EMT-I combined fast-track course

Course Description

The Emergency Medical Pathway course simply combines the EMT-B and EMT-I course to provide a pathway to the EMT-P course.

The course syllabus follows that of the EMT-B and the EMT-I and is simply one course followed by the other but the course is fast-tracked.

The course is designed to allow the learner the flexibility of distance learning, combined with a three week intensive practical programme and then the internship at a time which suits. The course is essentially in three main parts as follows:

  1. E-learning over a period of up to 6 months in which an on-line programme of lectures is completed - EMT-B followed by EMT-I online learning elements.

  2. On completion of the on-line lectures, the students attend a 14 day practical programme of contact learning time and assessment which is at our training centre in Glasgow, UK.

  3. On successful completion of the practical programme and assessments, the student will be able to complete 100 hours of field internship. This can be done with our European partner in Bosnia at a time which suits the student. The internship takes place at a hospital in Mostar in Bosnia, where we have in place a strategic alliance for the benefit of our students. Here at this location, the students are allowed to experience extensive hands on practical skills under the supervision of the highly trained hospital / ambulance staff. This is extremely beneficial to the students to be able to experience first hand, the range of practical applications provided by the Mostar work experience placement.  The internship at the University Hospital of Mostar will allow you access to areas of emergency care which would not be permitted in the UK or US. You will also be able to exercise the skills learned on the course.

Building on the requirements for the EMT-B qualification, this course presents participants with the opportunity to further extend their skills and knowledge to competently deliver an enhanced level of emergency and urgent care.
