Course Description

The Assessment and Treatment of Trauma (ATT) Course is presented on two levels:



The basic course is designed to cover basic trauma life support concepts from the basic life support provider's level of training (anatomy and physiology and the pathophysiology of injury).


The advanced course builds upon the basic trauma life support concepts and provides a more in-depth look into trauma and advanced management.

The course begins with an online pre-course study which allows learners to review essential information related to each type of injury.  The on-line pre-course element takes approximately 2 hours to complete.



The learner then attends the 1 day classroom /practical element of the course which lasts for 1 day.  The learners actively participate in scenario-based, small-group discussions and witness live-action videos. This allows the learners to gain practical application whilst teaching them to think critically about how to approach traumatically injured patients.

The pre-hospital professional Paramedics, nurses and physicians:

The Basic ATT course is geared toward the Emergency Medical Responder (First Responder) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B).
The Advanced ATT Course is geared toward the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A), Paramedic, and other advanced life support providers.

Awarding Body
American Academy of Orthopedic Phy​sicians.


Certification​
On successful completion of the on-line pre-course element and the practical assessments, the learner will receive certification through the American Academy of Orthopedic Physicians.
